Maxwell Finland Lecture
This session, taking place on Thursday, October 20, will highlight the key drivers of antimicrobial resistance, take a look at the impact of one health in both the problem of an optimal response to antimicrobial resistance, and identify potential incentives of drug and diagnostic development to treat and detect antimicrobial resistance infections.
This session will feature insights from Dr. Helen Boucher, the Dean ad interim and Chief Academic Officer at the Tufts Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. She’s also the Director of the Tufts Center for Integrated Management of Antimicrobial Resistance, a collaborative cross-disciplinary initiative between Tufts University and Tufts Medical Center to utilize research, policy, and education to develop solutions to combat antimicrobial resistance.
Caroline B. Hall Lecture
This featured session is divided into two presentations: “PIDS Featured Oral Abstract: High Beta Lactam Exposure in Neonates with Bloodstream Infection Associated with Intestinal Dysbiosis and Enterococcus spp. Abundance in the Gut Microbiome,” and “Cloning the Plasmablast Response to Solve the Mystery of Kawasaki Disease Pathogenesis.”
One of the session’s moderators, Dr. Anne H. Rowley, is a Professor of Pediatrics and Microbiology/Immunology at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and an Attending Physician in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. She’s also served in leadership positions in the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society and the American Heart Association Committee on Rheumatic Fever, Endocarditis, and Kawasaki Disease.
Joseph E. Smadel Lecture
This presentation, taking place on Thursday, October 20, will feature two sessions: “IDSA Featured Oral Abstract: 25 Years of Varicella Vaccination Program in the United States: Health Impact during 1995–2019” and “Improving Maternal-Child Health Through Discovery.” This presentation also features insights from Dr. David M. Aronoff, the John B. Hickam Professor of Medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine.
Dr. Aronoff is also an elected member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation and a fellow of both IDSA and the American Academy of Microbiology. His Research lab explores clinical studies on reproductive immunology and researches how these infections can complicate pregnancy.
These are just a few of the sessions that will be featured at the upcoming IDWeek, and they may impact the way we diagnose and treat infectious diseases.
